For this project Lena Balderas, Danielle Morr, and I were tasked with Co-Designing an object with 8th graders Jack and Issac from KGMS Secondary
Process
This was my first experience designing for someone other than myself, and I learned an important lesson in compromise. The good thing about designing with 8th graders is they are very quick to tell you what they don't like, this brutal honesty wasn't easy to receive, but it did help us move from ideas that weren't working, to ideas that were quickly.
We ended up designing a collapsible slingshot that could be set up and taken down easily. The idea being that a teacher can keep control over the situation with the ability to take it away, and with the students holding a sense of independence through being trusted in using the slingshot responsibly.
